Individual Somatic Hands-On Sessions Festival Sessions:
The intention is to enable festival participants, deeply immersed in workshops and steeped in rich experiences of seeing performances, to receive individual somatic hands on sessions, in order to:
What to expect:
We will have an hour to address your enquiry. We may move in space or be on the floor; with your permission I may place my hands on your body. This is to support locating different tissues and to resource your sensing and moving. I may use visual images, such as anatomical models, pictures or internal imagery, to guide our exploration. Finding words for what we discover is integral to the work. Words may guide us, surprise us, come out of silence or just be there at the beginning and end. Sometimes there may be the need to move a lot in order to complete something, to move something on, at other times we may yield to the simplicity of rest. We work with what you bring in the moment, we honour your history and we find creative ways to integrate your curiosity by listening to your body here and now. Wear something you can move in comfortably and be warm, and if you wish, bring journals to collect your words and images. If you want to know more about what to expect, please feel free to contact me. How to book:
There are 34 sessions available throughout the festival. Who is it for?
Everyone: organisers, helpers, participants, teachers, artists, all within the festival are welcome to receive a session. What will it cost?
Sessions are intended to be part of your festival experience and as such are offered on a donation basis. There will be a box and you can contribute what you can afford. Where to come:
We will have a space in ICE throughout the festival. Who is Kerstin?
Initially studying Body-Mind Centering© in Berlin, in the late 80's as part of her performance training, Kerstin has many years of somatic teachings supporting her work. Several years of working in wellbeing, early year's education and creative arts as a Holistic Therapist eventually culminated in graduating in 2007 as an Integrative Bodywork and Movement Therapist. She continues to work as a diploma-graduate Assistant on Linda Hartley's training (www.ibmt.co.uk). Kerstin graduated as teacher of Andrea Olsen and Caryn McHoses' 'Body and Earth' work in 2009, and currently offers a private client practice as an ISMETA (www.ismeta.org) registered Educator and Therapist. She has delivered teachings for the MA at Coventry, facilitates workshops and is involved in artistic collaborations with dance and performance artists. Kerstin's work is underpinned with the intention to enquire, with compassion and acceptance, how being present to the moment, to the tissues of our being, to our place in the environment, can lead to finding integration and healing and as such support our creative expression. |
